The founder bishop had created in 1972 new and independent parish of Sajószentpéter previously affiliated to parish of Múcsony. The local church had bought a civil style house, and constructed a small chapel and manse in that building. In that regime it was impossible to build a church, but this initiative could be considered as well as a favour. Since that time our parish had been developing well, and has grown out of the chapel.
On the national census of 2000 1120 persons professed to be belonged to
the Greek Catholic Church. We could not reach our goals from ourselves, because
the parish has serious daily problems. The people in our region,
We have planned our church to be a complex "shelter",
spiritual centre, where everybody feels himself at home and finds "mental
recovery".
Our newly constructed church is planned for 150 persons, the total cost
of the project is 50 million HUF (about 250.000 USD). It is magnificent thing
for us, we could commence the project of church and community rooms after the
30rd year anniversary of the parish.
The Church are us, we are crying and laughing together, so financing
cost of operation and construction is our job and it is our common
responsibility for the God. For this reason we recommend our thoughts to the
attention of everybody with benevolence and to the support of our Father,
because "every donation and perfect gift is for the heaven, touched down
from You, from the Father of Clarity."
